For a walk-in interview in Dubai, bring several printed CVs, copies of your passport, visa page and certificates, passport photos and experience letters. Keep your original passport with you, but never hand it over. Arrive early, dress for the job you want, and keep your answers short.
Use this walk-in interview checklist for Dubai the night before.
Walk-in interview checklist for Dubai: what documents to bring?
Put everything in one clear plastic folder.
- CV – at least 5 printed copies. One or two pages, with your UAE mobile number and WhatsApp on top.
- Passport copy – the photo page.
- Visa page copy – your visit visa or residence visa.
- Emirates ID copy – if you are a resident.
- Passport-size photos – a few, with white background.
- Education certificate copies – highest qualification first.
- Experience letters – from past employers, with dates and job title.
- Driving licence copy – for driver, delivery or sales roles. Bring the UAE licence if you have one.
- Trade certificates – for electricians, welders, security guards and similar roles.
- A pen, your phone fully charged, and a power bank.
The event notice may ask for something extra. For example, when the Pakistan Consulate in Dubai held walk-in interviews in 2025, Gulf News reported that candidates were asked to bring a CV, passport and valid ID. Always read the job post twice.
What should I never hand over?
Your original passport. Show it if someone needs to see it, then take it back. The UAE labour law says employers must not withhold a worker’s official documents. Give copies only.
Also never pay money. Walk-in interviews are free. The labour law says the employer must not charge workers recruitment and employment fees, and police have warned that real employers do not ask job seekers for “fees”. If anyone asks for “registration”, “file opening” or “visa processing” money, walk away. Read our guide on how to spot fake job offers in the UAE.
When should I arrive, and how do I handle the queue?
- Arrive 30–60 minutes before the start time. Popular walk-ins can draw hundreds of people. Some stop taking CVs when they have enough.
- Check the venue the day before on Google Maps. Look for the exact building, floor and nearest metro station.
- Be polite to everyone, including the security guard and receptionist.
What should I wear to a walk-in interview in Dubai?
Dress one step smarter than the job itself. Clean, ironed and simple always works.
| Job type | What to wear |
|---|---|
| Hotel, restaurant, café | Plain shirt, dark trousers, polished shoes. Neat hair, short clean nails. |
| Retail / sales | Shirt or smart top, trousers or skirt, clean shoes. |
| Security | White or light shirt, dark trousers, black shoes. Clean shave or neat beard. |
| Driver / delivery | Clean collared shirt, trousers, closed shoes – not sandals. |
| Office / admin / accounts | Formal shirt and trousers, or modest business dress. Tie optional. |
Dubai heat: from spring to autumn, the walk from the metro can leave you soaked. Carry water, wear a vest under your shirt, and keep a small towel or tissues. Reach early so you can cool down inside before your turn.
What do they ask, and what should I say?
Walk-in interviews are short. Answer in two or three sentences. Here are five common questions with sample answers you can change for yourself.
- “Tell me about yourself.”
“I’m Anil from Kerala. I have four years’ experience as a waiter, two of them in a hotel in Kochi. I’m good with guests and I can work any shift.” - “Why do you want this job?”
“Your company is well known for hospitality. I want to grow in a big hotel, and this role fits my experience.” - “What is your visa status?”
“I’m on a visit visa valid until 20 December. I can join as soon as the company processes my work permit.” - “When can you join?”
“Immediately.” Or, if you are working: “After my notice period of one month.” - “Do you have UAE experience?”
If not: “Not yet, but I have three years in the same work in India, and I learn fast.”
What if they ask about salary?
Know the usual range for the role before you go. Then say: “I’m looking for around AED X, but I’m open. Does the package include accommodation and transport?” Allowances can matter as much as basic salary.
How do I follow up after a walk-in?
- If they gave an email, send a short thank-you the same day with your CV attached.
- Wait about a week. Then send one polite follow-up message. Do not call every day.
- If you get an offer, read it carefully before signing. Our guide on how to read a UAE job offer letter helps.
Safety check before you go: confirm the company has an official website or verified page that lists the walk-in, and that the venue is a real office or hotel on the map, not a private flat.
